Destitute HIV+ women are referred into this programme by the Etafeni counsellors, patient advocates, social workers and clinic staff. They are trained in embroidery, smocking, patchwork and beading. The crafts produced are sold locally and internationally, and through individual orders, giving our HIV+ members a steady income.
In this programme members are offered counselling, advocacy at the clinics, skills training, care for their children and a nutrition programme. Six members of this group have already moved on to employment in the formal sector.
Prospective buyers see the Our Crafts ... section on the home page.
